Virginia L. Clouser, 94, formerly of 534 West Fifth Street, Lewistown, entered into the arms of Jesus at 11:17 AM on Monday, April 11, 2022 at The Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA.
Born January 19, 1928 in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late William and Helen M. (Watson) Isenberg. Jean was raised by the late John and Tressie Jackson. Jean was married to the love of her life, the late John A. Clouser on January 22, 1949. He predeceased her on March 20, 2007.
Jean is survived by a sister, Marie Marshall, of Harrisburg, PA and surviving children are Deborah (Scott) Richards, Berlin, Maryland, Ann (Alan) Laughlin, Rockingham, Virginia, and Linda (Scott) Settle, Lewistown, whom Jean lived with for the last four years. Six grandchildren Amy (Dave) Bradsher, Ashley Richards, Lindsey Laughlin, Hannah (Bruce) Cutter, John Richards and Zachary (Erin) Settle; and also, six great-grandchildren, Andi and Luke Bradsher, Emma Settle, Wyatt Cutter, Hunter Settle and Brinley Cutter. Jean is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Jean considered her nephew Billy and wife Ruth Clouser as her own children. They were always ready to lend a loving hand no matter what her needs were.
Jean was predeceased by siblings, Robert (Ike) Isenberg, Robert Kone, William Jackson, Ralph McCullough, Dorothy (Jackson) Heeter, grandson, Lee A. Laughlin, III. and great-grandson, Emmett John Cutter. She was also predeceased by her beloved dogs, Ginger, Brownie and Amos
Early in life, Jean was employed by Beaver Brothers Bakery in the Sweet Department working alongside Carl and Ellis Beaver. Jean cleaned three houses making $.25 per hour. Jean was a stay-at-home mom, always being there to care for her daughters. She later worked as a school crossing guard for the Mifflin County School District.
Jean loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Where ever Jean was she made many friends with her winning smile. Jean was well known for her potato salad, meatloaf, pumpkin pies and peanut butter fudge. Jean loved collecting porcelain dolls and also snowmen. She was an avid fan of the Penn State Nittany Lions, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Baltimore Ravens.
Jean was the oldest member of the Lake Park United Methodist Church. She loved church dinners and loved her church family. Jean’s ministry was sending greeting cards to her family and friends. She was a past member of the Penn Highlands and Lewistown Band Boosters.
Her celebration of life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday April 15, 2022 at King-Barr Funeral Home LLC, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown Rev. Richard Williams officiating. Her family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Juniata Memorial Park Cemetery.
