Sherman C. Johnson, Sr., 77, of Lewistown, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday February 14, 2022 at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born May 20, 1944 in Lewistown, he was the son of the late George H. and Edna I. (Price) Johnson.
Sherman is survived by his loving wife, Marlene (Longwell) Johnson, whom he married on August 5, 1972; children, Sherman C. Johnson, Jr. and fiancé Melissa Shawver, of McVeytown; grandchildren, Trey D. Johnson, of Lewistown, and Landon M. Johnson, of McVeytown; and siblings, Darlene Knepp and husband Edward, of Lewistown and Sue Murri and husband Jim, of California.
He was an active member of Lewistown Assembly of God Church, serving as deacon.
Sherman was employed at Standard Steel as a crane operator, retiring after 20 years of service. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing at Indian Run Golf Course where he was a member, weight lifting, crafting, painting and fishing. He will be remembered for his infectious smile and his ability to always be the life of the party. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be dearly missed by all.
Details of a Celebration of Life service to be held on May 21, 2022 will be announced at a later date.
