Obituary

Larry J. Vaughn, 76, of Lewistown, passed away at 12:53 a.m. on Monday February 17, 2020 at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born June 16, 1943 in Lewistown, he was the son of the late William and Helen (Reed) Vaughn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: William Vaughn, Fay Vaughn, Lois Walk, and Vivian Stains, and a grandchild, Jonathan Paige.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Deborah (Collins) Vaughn, whom he spent 54 years of marriage with; Children, Karen Hagan, and husband Dennis, of Lewistown, Cathy Dobbins and husband Drew, of Lexington Park, MD, Connie Knepp and husband Brian, of Yeagertown, and Kelly Vaughn and husband Steve Merrill, of San Clemente, CA; Grandchildren, Leigh-Anne Hall, Jennifer Killinger, Matthew Slemons, Stephanie Traxler, Colby Hagan, and Ben Merrill, and 11 Great-Grandchildren.
Larry was employed at Mexico Forge and Freedom Components for many years as a metal fabricator. He was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, where he was very active in church functions, including serving as a greeter at church dinners. He was also an avid train collector and watcher, and even belonged to The Mifflin County Model Railroad Club.
A memorial service in loving memory of Larry will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday February 20, 2020 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 21 S. Main Street, Lewistown, with Rev. John P. Harwood officiating.
Inurnment will take place at St. Mark’s Episcopal Columbarium.
Arrangements are under the care of The Barr Funeral Home Inc. and Crematory, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Larry’s memory are respectfully encouraged to: Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard, 21 S. Main Street, Lewistown PA 17044.
