Obituary

Karen L. Grassmyer, 71 of Lewistown, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born September 19, 1948 in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Betty L. Fultz. Karen was preceded in death by a special nephew Sean M. McCartney.
Karen is survived by her husband, Howard “Gene” Grassmyer whom she married August 23, 1969; daughter, Carrie Riley of Lewistown; siblings, Keith Fultz and wife Nancy of North Carolina; Kathy McCartney and husband Daniel of Lewistown and Mary Kay Fultz and partner Lisa Weaver of Bellefonte; and nine nephews, five nieces and multiple great nieces and nephews. Karen is also survived by her “second daughter” Chris Ritter and Amy Wilson who she also considered as part of the family.
She was a 1968 graduate of Kishacoquillas High School.
Karen was employed at Philips Ultrasound and retired from Fisher Electronics. In her free time, Karen enjoyed outings with family and friends as well as computer games and yard work. Karen’s favorite outings were with her best friend Karen #2, Karen Kruchinsky.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Barr Funeral Home and Crematory, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Karen’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1375 Martin Street, State College, PA 16801 or American Diabetes Association, 3544 N. Progress Avenue, Harrisburg, PA 17110
