June M. Rupp, 89, was finally reunited with her husband, William J. Rupp, Sr. on Saturday, October 19 2019 at Valley View Retirement Community surrounded by her loving family.
Born May 31, 1930 in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Vernon E. Bubb and Ruth A. (Skipper) Bookwalter.
She was also preceded in death by her “Dad” Charles Bubb and her “Pop” David R. Bookwalter. On January 20, 1951 she married William J. Rupp, Sr. They were blessed with 61 years of marriage prior to his death on September 16, 2012.
She is survived by three children, Peggy A. Bishop of Creston, OH; William J. Rupp, Jr. and wife Vicki of Reedsville and Teresa M. Herbster and husband Steve of Lewistown; a sister, Margaret G. Derrick of Camp Hill; step-sister, Lois Briggs of Lewistown and two step-brothers, Fern Bookwalter of Missouri and Donald Bookwalter of Florida.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Wayne A. Shingler, Jr; a grandson, Ethan M. Herbster along with step-sisters, Dorothy Bookwalter, Letha Gahagan and Winifred Dupert.
June leaves behind six grandchildren, Wayne A. Shingler III, Sherri L. Benner, Summer C. Bishop Harris, Allison L. Yoder, Leigh-Ann M. Yoder and Gregory J. Bishop as well as nine great grandchildren.
June (Bubbles) Bubb graduated from Reedsville High School in 1948 where she was a member of the girls basketball team. She retired from Lewistown Hospital in 1995 after serving 27 years in the Environmental Services Department.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Lewistown.
June’s greatest joy was her family. Nothing pleased her more than to have her entire family gathered together for a meal, a tradition which continued at Valley View after her confinement there. She was an exceptional pie baker who handed her expertise down to several of her grandchildren. She enjoyed sitting on the front porch with her beloved Bill. Prior to her illness, she was a member of the “Early Birds” a group of friends who gathered at Kish Park each morning for a walk.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, North Dorcas Street, Lewistown with Father William Weary officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.
There will be a time of visitation with the family from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at the Barr Funeral Home and Crematory, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in June’s name to Valley View Retirement Community Memory Lane, 4702 E. Main Street, Belleville, PA 17004 or Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 9 N. Brown Street, Lewistown, PA 17044.
The family wishes to thank the staff of “Memory Lane” Valley View Retirement Community for the loving care that they provided “June Bug” over the past two years. She loved each and every one of you. Special thanks to UPMC Family Hospice who provided care and support in her final days.
