I shall not forget the impact that Jane Wagner had upon my life as a student at Mount Union Area High School. She was excellent in her profession; a stalwart in her field of labor. Truly she was a compassionate and loving person and these are but a couple descriptive terms to summarize her character and life. I recently felt compelled to send a card to her and remind her of these attributes that impacted me and let her know of my appreciation. To my dismay, rather than find an address online, I found her obituary, now knowing that she passed earlier this month. My heart is sad that another great has now passed off the scene. As she wrote in my yearbook that she perceived me as an "island of sanity" in her first period class, so now Mrs. Wagner, I trust that you are resting in peace. May my life touch others as much as yours touched mine and the students you so faithfully served. My warmest condolences to the family. -James Horne

I met Jane when I moved up here 11 years ago. We both had a love of books and also a common bond as teachers. Her dedication and involvement in the organization and operation of Mount Union Community Library in 2011 as a volunteer library continued till her passing. Jane always had a smile for you no matter how bad her day was going. I will miss our chats about the library and the things we both enjoyed. Jane will always be remembered as a teacher, mentor and friend. Rest in peace my friend, you will be missed.

I was blessed to have Ms. Wagner as an English teacher at MUAHS, and am forever grateful to her for her encouragement to me for writing. It was she who awakened that passion in me and I am so thankful. Ms. Wagner was a force and I am grateful for the deposits that she made into my life. She will be missed. I will miss her dearly.
