Obituary

Gary L. Mast, 79, of Lewistown, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at his home.
He was born December 1, 1940, in Belleville and was the son of the late Alpheus and Helen (Young) Mast.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Carole (Henderson) Mast; daughters, Wendy Wert and husband Jonathan of Port Royal, and Cathy Hunter and husband Rodney of Lewistown; grandchildren, Alex and Blake Hunter of Lewistown, and Gabe and Emily Wert of Port Royal; and siblings, Donald Mast and wife Linda of Lancaster, and Marcia Mast of Harrisburg.
Gary graduated in 1958 from Chief Logan High School. He retired from New Holland as a Foreman after 32 years of service. Earlier in life, he completed the Dale Carnegie Human Relations Course and was later chosen to teach the course. He continued to use the memory techniques and always amazed his employees by memorizing their ID numbers.
He enjoyed golfing, and was a former member of the State College Elks Country Club, twice winning the Golf Club Championship there, a former member of the Lewistown Country Club, and a member of the Greenlee Hunting Camp. He had a Hole-In-One at Carroll Valley Country Club in Fairfield, PA and won the YMCA Senior Games multiple years in the foul shooting competition. He was also a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Reedsville. He was a loyal Notre Dame fan and enjoyed watching their games; however, his fondest memories were the times spent with his grandchildren and attending their activities. They were his pride and joy, and the light of his life.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, daughters and grandchildren, and will live forever in our hearts.
Burial services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
For those who desire, in lieu of flowers, please kindly consider memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 1375 Martin Street, Suite 206, State Collage, PA 16803, or to the Reedsville Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 East Logan Street, Reedsville, PA 17084.
Arrangements are under the care of Barr Funeral Home, Inc. and Crematory, 120 Logan St., Lewistown.
