Ethel May (Levinson) Covitch, age 98, died March 2, 2020. Ethel was born on January 27, 1922 in Lewistown, PA to Sam and Rebecca Levinson, and lived there until 2011, when she moved to Fleming Island, FL to live with family. In 1941, Ethel married Nathan Covitch, who died in 1981. During her time in Lewistown, Ethel owned a fabric store at 28 Chestnut Street that shared a building with her husband’s plumbing business. An avid gin rummy player, music lover, and fan of old movies, she also spent time volunteering at various non-profit and civic organizations, such as the Lewistown Hospital, the Red Cross, the Lewistown Historical Society and her synagogue. Her laughter and sharp wit will be forever missed by her daughters Paula Schulman of Scottsdale, AZ and Barbara Atkin of Fleming Island, FL; her sister Bede (Levinson) Shapiro of Baltimore, MD; her grandchildren Brian (Jami) Schulman of Phoenix, AZ, Marc Schulman of Arlington Heights, IL, Douglas (Sandy) Atkin of Lake Barrington, IL, and Megan Atkin of Fleming Island, FL; her seven great-grandchildren Levi, Micah, Emily, Charlie, Branden, Lucas, and Connor; and her loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held, Friday, March 6, 2020 at 1:00 pm at the Ohev Sholom Cemetery, 252-598 Sand Ridge Road, Lewistown, PA. 17044. In case of bad weather, services will be held at the Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, PA.
