Dorothy M. Heckman, 86, of Lewistown, passed away at 6:51 a.m. on Wednesday December 11, 2019 at William Penn Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Born July 19, 1933, in Mapleton Depot, PA, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Margaret (Campbell) Baker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold P. Heckman, and numerous brothers and sisters.
Dorothy will be remembered and missed by her loving children, Susan K. Barner and husband Ronald, of Lewistown, Thomas A. Heckman, and wife Lisa, of Lewistown, Carole A. Heckman-Shingler and husband Richard, of Mount Joy, Pamela Bedlyon, of Arkansas, and Ellen M. Hartsock, and husband John of Lewistown, a sister, Alice Kelly, of Mill Creek, Grandchildren, Billie Jo, Deanne, Laura, Courtney, Brooke, Lantz, Chad, Michael, Angela, Aaron, Jared and Ashley, Great-Grandchildren, Shawna, Jonathan, Teagan, Wailes, Nolan, Reese, Turner, Tate, Titus, Sarah, Bryce, Matthew, Levi, Jasper, Hannah, Gretchen, Cecelia, Elysia, and Drake, and one great-great- grandchild, Keegan.
Dorothy was employed as a cook in The Mifflin County School District.
She was a member of Burnham Church of the Brethren, and in her free time, she loved cooking, baking, camping, going to the beach and spending time with her family. Nothing brought Dorothy more joy than being a mother and grandmother.
A memorial service in loving memory of Dorothy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday December 14, 2019 at First United Methodist Church, 200 E Third Street, Lewistown, with Rev. Karen McCachren to officiate. There will be a time of visitation with the family from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
Arrangements are under the care of The Barr Funeral Home Inc. and Crematory, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown.
