I just learned the sad information that Chief Warrant Officer (Retired) Clinton Herbster passed away on Tuesday. My prayers go out to the family. CWO Herbster was always supportive of me the decade that I served in the 212th battalion as chaplain from 1986 to 1995. Clint was always fair, dedicated, and helpful. I can see how his organizational skills would have been so helpful in the community activities that he volunteered to assist in his retirement. He was a great warrior, not only in the National Guard, but also serving in Germany and Korea. God richly blessed CWO Herbster, his father, and the entire family.

I met Clint while I was working at a Physical Therapy clinic that he went to. Every time Clint came in, it made everyone's day instantly better, especially mine. We immediately bonded over the fact that my brother is currently enrolled at West Point, and I enjoyed showing Clint pictures of West Point football games and other events my family and I attended together. Clint and I also talked about all of the places we've traveled to. He always spoke about his wife, Ann, and I could tell that they were truly the loves of eachother's lives. It brings me peace knowing that they are together again.
I consider myself blessed to have known Clint, and even more blessed to have formed an unlikely friendship with him. Even though we met through PT visits, he was truly special to me and made such an impact on my life. During one visit, he gave me a journal to write my life experiences in, which I will continue to do in honor of him. Thanks for the great memories, Clint. You will be missed.

Our family had quite a few interactions with Mr. Herbster. He was always kind, polite, and a pleasure to be around. It takes a special man to accomplish and do all the things he did in his life. God rest his sole.

Clint was a mentor, advisor and good friend to me. I spent 26 years with Mr. H at the armory most of which I worked directly on personnel matters for our soldiers as the Personnel Staff Sergeant and later as the First Sergeant of the HHC. We talked and when I resigned as First Sergeant to spend more time with my little girl, Clint said that one of his regrets was the time he missed with his children due to the time he spent at his job. But he got that honestly from his father, Al. I know that I will miss him and know that no matter what the future brings, you can know how much he loved Anne and his children. God be with you at this time of loss. 1SG Alton Phillips, Retired.
